GLOSSARY TERMS

AQPAC  - Emergency Response Air Quality Package, an environmental software package that provides a prediction of hazard zones for emergency evacuation. 

CAMEO - Computer-Aided Management of Emergency Operations, an environmental software package that provides an air dispersion model of area locations of hazardous atmospheres. 

CEPAC - The Chemical Emergency Preparedness Advisory Council of Franklin County. 

CEPAC Contributions Protocol  - is a procedure that CEPAC developed for companies that wish to contribute to CEPAC's programs. 

EHS - Extremely Hazardous Substance.  There are 354 Extremely Hazardous Substances (EHS) that the United States Environmental Protection Agency has chosen, based on scientific findings as highly toxic substances, which the public should not be exposed to by their release from their container. 

EP&CRTK - Emergency Planning & Community Right-to-Know. 

Emergency Planning & Community Right-to-Know reports - are reports that identify the chemicals that are manufactured, used, or stored at a company.  This chemical information is available to the public upon request. 

Facility Notification/Consultation Protocol  - is the procedures where the Hazard Analysis Committee notifies facilities of their risk assessment. 

Franklin County Hazardous Material Annex  - is the emergency plan for hazardous material incidents in Franklin County.  The annex plan gives the standard procedures for each agency that responds to a hazardous material incident. 

HMEP - Hazardous Material Emergency Plan. 

HAZ-REP database - is the computer database system used to store all the chemical storage information received from companies in Franklin County. 

MAP-INFO - is the computer generated map of Franklin County.  This map displays the positions of companies, schools, day care centers, nursing homes, shelters, hospitals, and fire departments.

NIMS - is the National Incident Management System.

Quality Assurance Program - is the evaluation process that verifies the accuracy of the data on the database system. 

Risk Reduction Seminars - are educational workshops for companies to reduce their risks at their facility. 

Shelter-in-Place - A video which describes how to shelter oneself and his or her family from a chemical release to the atmosphere. 

Speakers Bureau - is a group of CEPAC members that present the Emergency Planning & Community Right-to-Know aspects of CEPAC to the community associations of Franklin County. 

TRANSCAER - Transportation Community Awareness & Emergency Response program. 

TRANSCAER Program - is concerned with the risk assessment of all modes of transportation of hazardous materials in Franklin County.
